Having just returned from our holiday/wedding/honeymoon at The Calabash Hotel I would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to be married on the beach and in delightful surroundings. The arrangements for our wedding went like a dream – no hitches at all – even the sun was shining.

Everything at this hotel fully lived up to our expectations. The accommodation was excellent (we were given an upgrade because we married there),the food in The Rhodes restaurant was out of this world and the service was second to none. We chose the Calabash because we felt it would be relaxing, intimate and reasonably quiet. It was all these and more because all the staff were so helpful, friendly and welcoming. The only down side was the price of all kinds of drink which we felt were pricey. However we have now started saving up for our next visit – what more can I say.?

I had the fortunate experience to stay at this fantastic property on a recent trip to Grenada. It is an absolutely stunning hotel. Everything about it is beautiful. It is an all Suite Hotel and has a ‘Gary Rhodes’ restaurant where the food is to die for. I could find no fault what so ever with this hotel.

Have a look yourself! you will not be dissapointed.

Never having written an online review before (for anything, not just a hotel), I’d been meaning to make an exception for the Calabash for some time – but reading a recent poor review has spurred me into action.

I can’t say enough good things about my stay there. The setting is beautiful, particularly the hilltop spa overlooking a bright blue bay peppered with yachts and with a cool sea breeze whistling through as you’re being pampered. The suites are very comfortable and well presented, particularly the more modern ones, although the older ones are more peaceful. The food, as you would expect from a Rhodes restaurant, is excellent.

More than anything, though, what made my stay with them so special was the service. From the moment of arrival, everyone was charming, friendly and extremely helpful. Special mention should go to Sally, who runs the spa and is an absolute genius – I thoroughly recommend packing in some massages while you’re there. To give a specific example of the Calabash’s exceptional care of its guests, one morning I was having a casual conversation with Annette, one of the housekeeping staff, and mentioned it was a shame the pool was closed for a day or so for servicing. Within an hour, the hotel had moved me into a new suite with my own private pool. Please note here – this wasn’t a formal complaint I’d made, merely a passing comment. Now that’s service!

I arrived stressed, over-worked and grumpy. I left happy, thoroughly relaxed and considerably fatter. That’s a pretty good holiday in my view.

  1. Great site, how do I subscribe?

  2. That rss feature on your website here is impressive, you should tell people about it in your upcoming post. I haven’t noted it for the first couple of times, now I’m using it every morning to check on any updates. I’m on a rattling slow dial-up connection in Ohio and it’s rather daunting to sit there and wait for such a long time ’til the page loads… but hey, I just found your rss page and added it to the Google Reader and there you are… I’m always up-to-date! Well pal, keep up the good work and make that rss button a little bigger so that other people can enjoy that as well :-P
